ode to my first eight ferrets by pegge clarke

It's six a.m. and KAI's in bed
He's on my pillow, now my head
Lick lick lick my toes and feet
Hurry and get up, he wants his treat.

CRICKET's eyes are big and wide
He's under the bed, his place to hide
But when he hears the milk bone box
He comes out for a bite, then back to his socks.

SHARKEE is the king of the house
But then again, he's afraid of a mouse
Every morning he waits for his kisses
You can be sure of that, he never misses.

COUGAR's having a panic attack
He's seen the big monster behind his back
Nothing he thinks could be any meaner
Hey wait a minute, it's the vacuum cleaner.

KIEFER can be rolled into a ball
Thrown up in the air, he's such a doll
Moves not a muscle, he stays intact
A feat performed well, give him a clap.

TEAKE is missing one of his teeth
Apart from that, he's such a geek
We love him dearly, even though he's blind
He can't be replaced, he's one of a kind.

Oink oink oink run to the fridge
That's our TOSERS, he's such a pig
Clipping his nails is an easy task
Six toes missing, it's done in a flash.

Two Humane Societies CHARLIE has seen
The people who left him there were thoughtless and mean
He's part of the family, what can we say
We love him dearly and more each day.
